Kassie Nicholson's interest in physical therapy was sparked by her own experience rehabbing injuries as a Division I rower at Marist College. Navigating the demands of collegiate athletics while recovering from injury gave her a firsthand understanding of what athletes go through — and a desire to be on the other side of that process, helping others return to the sports and activities they love. A retired collegiate rower, Kassie has since adopted running as her primary outlet, staying closely connected to the endurance athlete community.
Kassie earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Psychology from Marist College in 2022 and completed her Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY in May 2026. She also holds Emergency Response for the Athlete (ERA) certification.
During her final year of graduate school, Kassie completed a ten-week clinical rotation at True Sports Physical Therapy in York, PA, where she gained hands-on experience treating patients in a sports and orthopedic setting. She is also actively engaged in research — she received a student research award for her work on a community-based Taekwondo program for older adults and people with Parkinson's disease and presented a poster on the study at the APTA Combined Sections Meeting in Anaheim, California.
Kassie has a particular passion for working with rowers and endurance athletes, drawing on her own background as a competitive rower to connect with patients and understand the unique physical demands of their sports. Her combination of athletic experience, clinical training, and research involvement positions her to deliver care that is both evidence-based and athlete-centered.
