Dr. Emily Cottrell


Emily Cottrell's interest in physical therapy was born out of her love for health and wellness and a strong desire to provide holistic care to individuals recovering from injuries. This passion is evident in her personalized approach to treatment, where she enjoys the one-on-one interactions with her patients at True Sports and seeks opportunities to make a meaningful impact in their lives beyond the clinic setting.

Emily's academic journey in physical therapy began at Virginia Commonwealth University, where she completed her Bachelor of Science in Health, Physical Education, and Exercise Science, with a concentration in Exercise Science. She then advanced her education at Texas Tech University Health Science Center, earning her Doctorate of Physical Therapy. Additionally, Emily is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), a certification that complements her physical therapy skills with a deep understanding of strength and conditioning principles.

Her professional experience spans various physical therapy settings, including pediatrics and sports specialty outpatient clinics. This diverse clinical background has equipped her with a broad skill set and an ability to cater to a wide range of patient needs and conditions.

Emily's personal athletic background includes soccer and equestrian show jumping, which gives her unique insights into the physical demands and injury risks of these sports. In her free time, she enjoys engaging in a variety of outdoor activities such as yoga, hiking, mountain biking, and kayaking. Her dedication to an active lifestyle further enhances her ability to relate to and understand the needs of her athletic patients.

Volunteering with adaptive sports programs and therapeutic horseback riding demonstrates Emily's commitment to community service and her passion for using her skills in diverse and impactful ways. She finds great fulfillment in working with athletes of all ages and abilities and is dedicated to helping her patients prioritize their health and fitness.
