Dr. Tim Stone

PT, DPT, CSCS, RCD, FRC, Cert DN

Tim Stone's journey into physical therapy began in Perth, Western Australia, where he initially embarked on a physiotherapy program at Curtin University. However, his path took a significant turn when he transferred to Salisbury University in the United States. Here, not only did he study and play Division III lacrosse, but he also became a part of two national championship teams and served as a team captain. It was during this time, through rehabilitating his own multitude of injuries in the athletic training facility, that Tim developed a deep-seated passion for the sports medicine aspect of physical therapy.

Tim's academic credentials include a bachelor's degree in Exercise Science from Salisbury University, where he graduated in 2014. He furthered his education at the University of Maryland, Baltimore, earning a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in 2017. These academic achievements laid a strong foundation for his career in physical therapy, particularly in the realm of sports medicine.

Professionally, Tim has represented True Sports as the Head Medical Coordinator for Athletes Unlimited lacrosse, a professional women's lacrosse league. His role included providing essential sideline coverage for team Canada at the Fall Classic in Sparks, MD. Beyond his clinical duties, Tim has actively contributed to the growth and development of the business side of physical therapy by participating in national PT business conferences.

Tim specializes in working with field-based athletes, including those in lacrosse, football, and soccer. He has a particular expertise in return-to-sport rehabilitation for lower extremity injuries, predominantly focusing on ACL reconstruction. His success in this area is noteworthy, with a track record of successfully returning hundreds of athletes to the field while maintaining a reinjury rate of less than 1%.

In addition to his clinical work, Tim contributes to the True Sports continuing education platform, sharing his knowledge and expertise in treating athletic injuries with other physical therapists both within and outside of his network. His involvement in the National Strength and Conditioning Association and his certification as an Emergency Medical Responder for Athletes through Cogent Steps underscore his commitment to the field.

On a personal note, in 2022, Tim competed at the Lacrosse World Games as a member of Team Australia, highlighting his ongoing involvement and passion for the sport. Tim Stone's journey from a student and athlete to a specialized physical therapist in sports medicine is a testament to his dedication and expertise in helping athletes achieve optimal performance and recovery.
